Movie Review: Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice

Director:Zack Snyder
Producer:Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder
Writers:Chris Terrio, David S. Goyer
Cast:  Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot

Plot:  A xenophobic Lex Luther tricks Batman into battling Superman to the death and unleashing Doomsday a genetic monster based on the body of General Zod.

If you take Batman Returns by Frank Miller, The Death and Return of Superman by Dan Jurgens, Louise Simonson, and Roger Stern  add Wonder Woman dump it into your Ninja blender and punch frappe you might just have what I payed matinée price for.  Remember I do this so you don’t have to.

In truth there might be a story here but if so I couldn’t find it and I looked hard for it.

However, let me state for the record certain truths.

One Ben Affleck wasn’t a bad Batman, and my standard for the worst possible portrayal of Batman is of course George Clooney’s turn in the cape and cowl.  So compared to Clooney Ben Affleck portrayal of Batman is great.

Second whoever cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther needs to rethink their career choices.  Absolutely the worst choice for a villain of Luther’s caliber. You need an evil Bruce Wayne someone who devotes his fortune to destroying Superman and is at the same time suave and sophisticated.

Third Gal Gadot shouldn’t have been in this movie.  She was basically a walk on part.  I like her as Wonder Woman but she wasn’t really used to advance the plot, wait what I am I saying there was no plot carry on.

Fourth Jeremy Irons was perfect as the new Alfred Pennyworth.  Right amount of dry British sarcasm.

There is a lot of violence in this movie too much for young kids, not to mention Batman is portrayed as almost psychotically angry every time he wears the suit.  There is one sex scene with Clark and Lois they were strategic and you can’t really see anything but it is there.

If you really want to rent this movie go ahead but make it a Mystery Science Theater 3000 party if you do.
My rating for this is one star don’t waste your money or time.

      • So, I watched it and, as a child of the 90s (SPOILER ALERT!! In the comics, after Bane broke Batman’s back he came back with no rules and Superman was killed by Doomsday in the highest grossing issue of Superman ever printed.), I loved it. I can’t wait to see what they do with The Justice League. The trailer looks very promising.

      • Well I am glad you liked it I remain as I have said before. Although I have seen another version director’s cut or something similar and I might watch that and see if it is better.

      • The Ultimate Edition. That is the one I watched, and I didn’t come away with all the plot issues that others seem to have. I don’t think I want to watch the Theatrical Cut, considering all the horrible things I’m hearing about it.
