Of Christ the Mediator.

Reflection

You need Jesus as your Prophet. You need Jesus as your Priest, and you need Him as your King. You cannot pick and choose which of the three you would like most and discard the other two. If Christ is to be our mediator, then He must fulfill all three offices in our life.

Naturally, the order of these offices are necessary as well. You cannot be reconciled to God and be a member of Christ’s kingdom if you have no clue regarding the way of salvation! Since we are fallen creatures, we are blind to the truth of our condition and ignorant of the beauty of Christ’s work on behalf of sinners. Jesus, being with the Father since eternity past, knows the will of His Father perfectly. he is the perfect interpreter of God’s word (Luke 24:27). Not only is He accurate at delivering the word of God, He is the Word of God, the One who makes God especially known to the elect. Through Jesus, our Prophet, we are no longer ignorant of God and His salvific will. He has made Him known, and for that we are thankful.
